LAPD Equipment

I came across this and thought it interesting enough to share---plenty of .45acps (S&W, Kimber, Beretta and Glock) on this list! .38 Revolvers, too.

Am pretty sure that STI 2011s are also used, and probably other 1911 makes as well.

I thought they had gotten out of Kimbers.
The metal Smiths are obsolescent, too; I wonder how they maintain them.

Nice. That list is not up to date. STI’s are used by a few of their SWAT guys, I don’t know outside of LAPD METRO Division if any patrol officers carry STI’s.

There's a lot of old stuff there. More likely it's simply what they happen to have in their armory, not necessarily what active LEOs are using.

Avoid the temptation to replace everything on your brand-new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

Wonder if anyone on patrol is still carrying the S&W 4506? I have a police trade 4506 in the safe...Very reliable and accurate weapon...
