There is some STUPENDOUS machine work in this thread!

guys.....sorry if I'm not forthcoming about my process.
I don't have a CNC mill, each cut is made via conventional
positioning.

Yes, it takes time and attention.

I've spent a lot of time developing fixtures and mathematical equations.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

My goal wiff this thread was to have illustrations of
the work involved in a custom build.

I KNEW you were a math freak!!! Just a hunch; but I had this premonition. So you do everything by hand, so to speak.

I completely appreciate your intention of wanting to show pictures, rather than sharing the intricacies of the processes.

You do amazing work, Chuck. All we can ask for, is that you keep it coming.

No smiff...have file and sandpaper.

The donor gun supplied the slide, front sight, disconnector, sear, ejector, some pins and springs.

I am a total amateur and it was a first, but it works, and works well.[/QUOTE]

Not to bad. Could use a little clean up on some details but ok for you first try.

Surely.

My efforts were focused on function over finish.

It's a daily carry and shooter and they get ugly anyway.

The slide is beat and worn but wears its original parkerizing.

I have pretty guns. This is certainly not one of them.

OK Chuck-- here it is..... sorta......

A condition known as "FRAG hand"

And the cause of this dreaded malady. This is a n otherwise fairly plain Springfield, it's been gone over for reliability and sharp edges but not really a full custom:

Overall view showing the FRAG'd frontstrap. The gun's original contrasting two tone scheme of black rounds and polished bare stainless flats is carried over: I have applied Brownells Baking Laquer after the FRAG job, baked it, and then polished the paint from the tops of each individual FRAG.

Same thing on the MSH:
