I have a Operator in 9mm. Paradoxically, the most accurate load I have found ( by far )is Winchester steel cased 115gr. FMJ. Obviously, it makes me VERY happy because I am a cheap bastard. I just can't figure out why it works so well.

I have a 9 mm stainless RO which is my first 1911 that I have I put a lot of rounds through and got me to more fully appreciate the platform. It is a little finicky on brass with reloads but shoots very well with 147 plated RN. I know some of you will cringe but I took a jeweler’s file and opened up the notch in the rear sight some which was a great help to these old eyes. There are also rear sights available that are wider.

I want to share the photos of this 1911 because when I was dreaming up getting a SA 1911 compact in 9mm, then adding a magwell; I wasn't able to find many photos.

Springfield Armory - Range Officer Elite Compact 9mm
Smith & Alexander Mag Guide
VZ Grips - Operator II, Black Gray (VZ has limited compact offerings with magwell cut)
Harrison Designs Trigger - Short
EGW Ambi safety
Wilson Combat ETM Mag 9rd

All in all, I really like the feel. The grip length is perfect with the added 1/4" from the S&A Mag Guide and the base plate of the 9rd magazine.

I just bought a Springfield 1911 Range Officer .45 ACP Pistol, Black - PI9128L from PSA.
The pic they showed,, on the left side of the slide Has the markings of,, model 1911 - A1 Cal 45. Now when I go to SA and run the MN# P19128L it show it to be a target gun and on the left hand side it has the markings,, RO Target.
Can some one please tell me what the difference is in these two modals are, other than the target sights. I did buy this gun for target work at the range, or did I make a mistake buying this particular Modal???? On the SA webpage all of the specs for this modal read about the same. HELP.
