STI Limited Edition

Looking to get some info on the Marauder line. I am interested in one of the limited edition black and tan Marauders, are there any significant differences over a normal marauder besides threaded barrel and holes in the slide? Are these collectable? Anyone have experience with one? Thanks

The tan grip, threaded barrel and lightened slide are the differences.

I havenít seen anyone actively collecting that model. Iíd say itís more run of the mill. If you own it and like it keep it. If youíre looking to buy one and the price is right then buy it.

Is the Marauder done? I understand that they made some in 2020, but mostly limited editions, right? Besides the a little extra barrel length what is the difference between the Maurader and a Staccoto XL? Thank you.

I know they did not make any in 2020 or 2019. 2018 or 2017 was the last year the Marauder was produced.

STI is moving away from the competition market and going for the MIL/LE and Tactical consumer market. Itís a bigger market and the competition market is evolving away from where SYI was.

The Marauder is long gone and will not gone back. If you have a need for one they are great guns. Buy it if you can.

Ok... I just bought a Maurader the seller it said it was new? It was a “Limited Edition” and has the tan grip. The slide is lightened. It looks new to me. The packaging is different than any other STI I have seen (not that I have a lot of experience), it came with a “rubber like” case with zippers. In an STI Box.

Does STI have a serial number inventory that is public access? Thanks

I have only 200 rounds through it so far no problems.

It was a new old stock item. New and never sold before but an older model still on his shelves. Nothing wrong with it at all. The marauder is a good gun and I always like that limited run gun you ended up with. Let us know how you like her.

Thanks D,
I will. I want to do the range report justice. Waiting on RHT for the holster. I really don’t want to dump a whole lot of ammo through it until I got my holster. I have shot 200 rounds at a backyard makeshift range and it is sweet. I havent zeroed the sight. No malfunctions. Need to get another magazine. I want a 140mm but I really am not sure about the competition mags. I will use it in competition, but I don’t care about one extra round versus losing the last round slide lock. I am not a serious contender mostly just for fun. Prefer the mag to be blue. Do you have a suggestion?

Well MBX is the gold standard on mags (and priced accordingly) but the new STI Gen2 mags are now a very close second. Your gun would have most likely cane with a Gen1. If you like the colored base pads you can buy the MBX, Taran Tactical also makes some nice ones and Dawson Precision has some too.

I haven’t bought a MBX since the Gen2’s cane out. If I were you I’d run the Gen2’s.

I've got a couple of MBX magazines that I use IF I have a need for 23 rounds, but most of the time I run Gen2 STI mags with an ISMI 11 coil spring. The new generation tube and follower simply works at half the cost.

I bought one last year just because it was a 10mm, it functions perfectly and very accurate, my only complaint was that it is Cerakoated instead of DLC so shows wear. Well and maybe I'm not to thrilled about the tan grip, they just look dirty.
As the others have said the Gen2 magazines are good to go and they lowered the price a while back.

Yea mine looks pretty much like that. I canít tell from the photo, is that one been lightened in the top of the slide? And it doesnít look like yours has the f/o front sight. I donít really mind the color of the grip, because it feels so good in my hand.

I just bought an STI Eagle 5.1 in 40 S&W. It too is an older pistol. It came with one magazine. A vendor was clearing out his STI 140mm Gen 1 mags at a great price. I got two. The followers on these mags do not work with my pistol. A called STI and it appears they no longer have the older style follower. I ordered some Dawson Precision followers that should be here next week. I'll see if they work in the Eagle 5.1. If you can check to see if the followers on the mags you are about to buy are similar to the mag that works in your pistol. In my case the new followers are taller and the slide catches on them when they are empty. If I were to do mag changes before they ran dry, they'd be okay.

Yes, no slide lightening and it has dot-bar night sights.
I have a couple other tan griped STI's but the don't look soiled like that, wonder if they just didn't clean their soldering iron after black ones.

That is great looking ten.

Does anybody know if these are Gen 1 or Gen 2 and what length are these?

Gen2, Gen1's have like two groves up the side instead of a flat.

Yes the Gen2 followers don't work in Gen1 and there is a newer Gen2, one on the left. I had one (out 0f 16) 9 mags that would occasionally nose dive midway through and the new follower fixed it.
