Ruger Customer Service is fantastic!

I just bought a Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander in Dec. of 2019. It came in a cardboard box. I've seen quite a few postings online where folks were showing off their new SR1911 with a cool plastic box that it shipped with. I wondered what was up and since I have plenty of time due to Corono 19, I e-mailed Ruger customer service. The next day I got a call from Ruger. That in itself impressed me. I had a nice chat with a fella named Wayne. He told me that my SR1911 was made in 2015 and all pistols were shipped in cardboard boxes back then. Ruger made the switch to the hard plastic boxes in Feb. of 2019 and any pistols made AFTER that got the nice box. I thank Ruger for paying attention to their customers. He also informed me that if I wanted the plastic box they were for sale on shopruger.com All in all it was good to talk to a real person. Way to go Ruger!

I recently tore down my Ruger SR22 and it was the first gun I have not been able to get back together. Action side would not go back on. I called Ruger Customer service and told them what I had done. They sent me a call tag for FedEx. They received it Tuesday and said they would get it to a technician. Yesterday I received an email that said "After a careful examination of the above referenced firearm, we find it necessary to replace it at no charge." Maybe there was a reason I couldn't get it back together, LOL. Today I received another email that stated I should have the replacement in 7 to 14 days. Very good CS.

Only had 2 interactions with ruger customer service, both very positive.

I have a p95dc that was a friend of mine’s that I got when he pass’d and when shooting it the recoil spring Assy came apart so I called ruger fully expecting to have to buy the replacement parts because I am not the oe owner but the very nice lady on the other end just mailed me a bunch of new parts to fix my gun for free.

Second time was with my MkIv 22/45 that I bought new and was having all kinds of ftf’s & FTE problems and having just bought my wife a 22/45 lite that just worked so well I called ruger who had me send my gun back on their dime, they had it 7-10 days and notified me (the tech) when he started to work on my gun and what he was doing to it. He replaced the bolt with the current updated version and polished the breech face and feed ramp. And then called me to suggest that I run a magazine of cci stingers through it at the end of each session to minimize the lead fouling that he said was there. It just has run perfect since.

Just great service, great people !

I have one made in 2015 also. The nice thing is Ruger was grooving the front of the frame back then on the LW CMDs and I think they stopped doing that about 2017 or so. I think one can see it on this picture of my CMD-LW

I bought a 5 inch in 2012 and a CMD in 2013 (All steel of course). Back then one got a zipper bag with the pistols. My 2015 CMD-LW did not have a zipper bag with it.

Was planning on picking up a CMD all stainless, but have about decided to buy the lightweight. Now, for 45 or 9mm, leaning toward the 9.
