DW Barrel question

I recently came into possession of a DW Specialist 45, and it has a black barrel. The seller said it was a special factory order and I took him at his word. However, I noticed all the photos of Specialists (and DW's in general} have stainless barrels, and I cant find any info on a black-barreled Specialist. I'm now wondering if he lied and the first barrel was shot-out or damaged. I mean, if you're going to special order new with a black barrel, why not order with a black trigger as well??

The markings are exactly the same as on my Valor's stainless barrel. Does anyone else have a black barrel in their DW?

My Dan Wesson 1911's have serial numbers on the barrels that match the frame & slide. Does your barrel have the serial number on it?

Email [email protected] and ask him. He can tell you if that was ordered with a black barrel or not.

I've owned close to a dozen Dan Wesson 1911's and they have only had the serial number on the frame, slide, and MSH. Are your guns newer or older.

I don't ever recall seeing the serial # on a DW barrel.

Itís probably Duty treated just like the slide. DW does offer this and Iíve seen it on custom guns.

The customer either sent his barrel in to be DT'd or he placed a custom order and only wanted the barrel done. It is a personal preference. It is defiantly one of our barrels and there is no way one of our barrels was shot out.

Just shoot it and forget about it.

Great advice from Keith DW, as always.
