Issues with new 9mm Defender

Buddy came to our range/shop and was shooting his new 9mm Defender.
He experienced multiple FTF and failure to lock on last round.
The gunsmith and I looked it over. Mags are stock and look OK. He has four Colt mags.
I took the pistol out on the range and experienced the same issues.
I told him to contact Colt CS and ask for RMA for a fix.
Anybody else have issues with this model? It is the new model.

The 9mm Defender I bought earlier this year hasn't malfunctioned in any way in about 900 rounds.

i had the same problem, sent in back to colt waited 6 mos and it still had not been looked at, i requested it be sent back to me, it is now at my local gunsmith. When you call customer service ask them the waiting time for repairs, it could be a long wait

I assume you tried different brands of ammo in it. The one I bought new in 2010 has been great but have not tried lots of different ammo in it. Mainly Win. and Fed although have shot some Russian steel cased stuff through it plus some CCI with the Aluminum case.

I just purchased a brand new 9mm Defender. I'll report back any issues once I get it to the range. I expect to go this weekend.

I have had my Defender in 9mm for over a year now and have not had any FTF OR FTE's yet.
I have been using ball and HP, Winchester, Federal, and Hornady. 115, 124, and 147.

I have a 9 mm Talo New Agent, which is basically the same as a Defender, that has over 6000 rounds through it with the only issue ever being a squib from one of my dad's reloads, obvious ammo issue and not the gun. It was my everyday carry gun until I bought a S&W Shield a couple days after Christmas 2014. My firearm collection has expanded quite a bit in the last couple of years so I don't shoot it as much as I used to. However, I will say without a doubt it is still my favorite gun that I own.

I also suspect ammo although it could be just tight fitted. In that case, oil it and work the slide a few hundred times.

I have to see how my buddy's situation pans out.
He tried several brands of good ammo.
I also test fired it and it had malfunctions.
It does need work.
