So how many .22 rimfires do you actually have?

After I picked up a nice K-22 the other day. I started to wonder, as I actually did not know. So I rounded them all up for a grand total of 13.

(1) 1 S&W model 18-4
(2) 1 S&W K-22
(3) 1 High Standard Sharpshooter model
(4) 1 Colt Diamondback
(5) 1 Ruger 10-22
(6) 1 Winchester model 1885 low wall.
(7) 1 Beretta model 21-A
(8) 1 Harrington and Richardson model 622
(9) 1 Colt Official Police
(10) 1 Winchester model 74
(11) 1 Stevens model 87-B
(12) 2 Remington 40-Xs

I think that I got them all. I can not help but wonder if there are not more .22 rimfire guns out there in this country then all of the other guns put together. The round has been around about forever. The guns could always be had fairly cheaply, ammo as well. The utility of these guns is undeniable. Whether it is to dispatch pests, put meat on the table, simple recreation, you name it at .22 will perform at very low cost. In a pinch they could even be called to defense duty. Only the stupidest of belligerents would walk into the face of one.

I think that about everyone that I have ever met has at least had one at one time or another. Even non gun people will admit to this as in their ignorance the often do not even consider them to be "real" firearms so much as toys. You all have heard it at least once. "I used to have a .22. But then the kids started coming and the wife wanted it out of the house."

So how about you? How many do you have?

1 stainless 4" 3/4 Uberti Stallion (scale down SAA)
1 5" 1/2 Uberti Cattleman (full size SAA)
1 6" Dan Wesson in .22 WMR
1 Beretta model 71
1 Walther PPK
1 High Standard Citation
1 Hammerli 280 (with the .32 WC conversion)
1 Uberti 1873 carbine with nickeled receiver

I think I got them all.

Avoid the temptation to replace everything on your brand-new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1946 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.

BAD number You must either buy one more (at least) or start selling.

S&W 17-4
S&W 41
Browning Challenger
Winchester 67A Boys Rifle
Ruger 10-22
Stevens "Little Scout"
Henry Frontier .22Mag

After going through my list, I see that I don't have nearly enough. Guess I will have to get me some more.

I have 2, a Ruger .22/45 and a Kimber 1911. Since my only use for a .22 is as a practice gun for my 1911 .45's, the Ruger doesn't see much use. I just keep it for a loaner.
