Have not had it to the range yet. Probably this weekend. Came with 4 magazines, range bag, holster, and mag carrier.

Had a chance to put a box of Federal HST 124gr down range and this gun is beautiful. Crisp trigger, easy recoil, quick target acquisition with the fiber optic front sight. Light weight and will become my EDC starting today!

Picked up this Range Officer in .45acp. The previous owner inherited it from his father but didn't fancy it since it wasn't as "safe" as his Glock. His loss.
The grips are my favorite ancient Safariland ones from decades ago.

I stumbled in to a great deal on a new RO Elite Compact .45acp. I was so thrilled with how the used RO Compact standard model I got I couldn't say no. This one came in the big white SA box with the range bag. Being nib it came with the spring capture tool the newer single flat wire recoil springs require-beats the paper clip I was using on the used gun haha. I added the Talon grip tape to the front strap as I did on the old one.

First range trip yesterday and it was flawless and damn accurate. To me the upgrade to the Black T (years ago Walter Birdsong did a Colt 5" in Black T for me and it still looks great-that gun lives with a former partner now) and the new sights are an improvement.

It's my new edc, the old one is with one of my sons now-he's happy I got something new too lol.

Thanks! Yup, the Compact is the shorter frame in SA’s lineup. Yes the lighter weight certainly contributes to it being the go to pistol. Put it in the VMII and it’s like it’s not even there.

Sold off the .45 and picked up the 9mm version-posted about it but figured I'd add a photo here too. Swapped to regular width VZ grips, screws, bushings and added Talon grip tape to the front strap. Also exchanged the mim fire control parts for a tool steel kit from Ed Brown. I really like the look of the factory "Gen 2" trigger so keeping that.

For only about $400 I installed:

Heinie rear sight
Harrison Designs
Medium trigger
Ignition Set - hammer, sear, disconnect
Slide Stop
Ed Brown guide plug and cap
Nighhawk Custom flat MSH and magwell
VZ grips

Turned a $700 dollar gun into an $2000 gun with only an additional $400 and some nice alone time. And the best part....no front slide serrations and no rail!

Posted in the main thread about joining the Springfield 1911 ranks, but thought I would add here as I purchased a used RO Compact in .45 this weekend. Have only shot about 20 rounds through it (when we tried it out) and wife looked at me and nodded that she liked it as well. Came with the kit and some additional magazines (5 total). Purchased for $600.
I have always liked Springfield 1911s, particularly the GI Government model, but have never owned one. My sig indicates current 1911s.
This is just a plinking machine. Might try it with some competition, but not sure I am up to 1911s and IDPA

RO Champ

After saying I didn't want another aluminum frame, and didn't want a 9mm 1911, and I wasn't sure I'd ever want another Champion after some problems years ago...well, times and my mind changed. I decided it was worth a risk instead of the next Commander I was eyeing. Then, the deal with the RO Elite with slim grips (actually, didn't think I wanted those either), 5 magazines, Black-T, AMBIs already on, F/O front sight and nice rear sight and heck even a range bag appeared. Made it to the range today, and I really like it. The 9mm/flat/light frame combo was fun to shoot. The safety snaps on/off the way all of them should. Trigger is fine for factory, average 4 lbs. 9 oz.. I like the sights are as well or better than Novaks, .125 wide front and rear notch the same. Grip safety may need a tiny bit of adjustment to disengage more easily, but maybe it will wear in in a few hundred rounds...I'll leave it alone. Just 100 rounds divided between 124 Gold Dots and 124 PMC FMJ, but no problems except grip panels may need rubber o-rings. Shoots a tiny bit low with the PMC, a tiny bit high with Gold Dots. Groups look fine so far-didn't measure them but they were not as tight as my full-sized Wiley Clapp .45 I was shooting beside it. BUT, dang it was fun, the gun is light and pleasant to shoot. Don't know if it will replace my Commanders, but this 9mm 1911 thing may be better than good.
