S&W 1911 and steel case ammo

I have some steel case ammo ( yea i know it is crap ammo) but not a lot and I am wondering if my S&W 1911 45 acp is up to the task of shooting this up. Anyone have any experience with steel case ammo and S&W 1911s?

I am not a fan of steel and will not shoot it through my guns. However, if you do the maths - if you only shoot steel by the time you wear out you barrel/chamber the savings in ammo cost will out weigh the cost of a new barrel.

Your external extractor will yank those empty steel cases just fine.

A little bit, but not much and these days the indoor ranges around here do not allow it (talking about Russian ammo here). I asked them and they said the bullets have steel in them that they found was damaging their back stop. I went home and pulled a bullet from a round and yes, I could pick it up with a magnet.
