Not sure about the adds but the last couple days when trying to open a thread, I’ve been hijacked to an Amazon giveaway.

Those "you may like" ads should only show up if you are not signed in. Are you seeing them regardless of being logged in or not?

The amazon hijack ad sounds like something I can block. Can you grab the url of the page it takes you to and post it here? And confirm what device/browser you are using

lol ok well let us know if you do see those ads once you are logged in, @1911 Kid.

Thanks for the info, @apipeguy.

@Guyfromohio - what device/browser are you seeing it on?

Reminder for everyone: anytime you report ad issues like this, please remember to include the following details so our techs can effectively remove them:

- device/browser you're using
- screenshots
- redirected URL or ad address (if you're not redirected but seeing it on your page, right click on it and copy/paste it here)
- and your geo-location if you somewhere else other than what shows in your avatar details (below your join date). The reason for this is because sometimes these ads are region based.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Cheers,
Nate

Hi guys,

Again if you provide browser and device info it helps us circle in on the problem.

Thanks,
Fergus

Thanks, I've sent that to our ad team to be investigated. Sorry for the inconvenience with this.

It isn't a big concern if logged out members are seeing ads. It's an issue if you are seeing these when you're logged in.

Guests seeing ads is an incentive to sign up to see them less. Sometimes ads will still get through and we can't always prevent that but we can get them removed. The mal-ads are coded by (essentially) trolls and buy space on every provider for pennies, they code them in a way that pushes past all preventative blocks and requires after the fact-specific reporting.*

Or to put it another way you can be vaccinated against every major version of the flu, but then a new one evolves, you can't make a vaccine for it until you know the exact strain. That's the ask here. Even our ad networks are pushing back as this is now an industry-wide phenomenon.

I hope that helps clarify things and once again, we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Thank you to those who continue to report and provide details on these.

Edit: I did log out and navigated randomly on the site as a guest, but did not see ads or ones that would be considered interfering. You could look at what your browser settings has to offer to prevent from seeing these things.

just so my 1st post is clear, i was not complaining about the ads, i just find that one kinda funny. suddenly signing up for yoga classes would probably be odd to my wife

and just as fyi, postimg.org, that i use often, has a "bad" ssl cert there now, so any forum module that is doing cert validation probably will fail to pull the data due to the cert issue, hence why as this time my 1st post appears to have a bad image there.

see, if you click this url for the img your broswer should (should) warn you, older browsers perhaps not.
