Good News: Ban on assault weapons amendment misses deadline for Florida’s 2020 ballot

Not enough signatures... and all those lies that the democrat gun grabbers have told us that the overwhelming number of Floridians want to ban assault weapons.

Florida voters won’t get to vote this fall on a proposed constitutional amendment to ban assault weapons after the initiative failed to get enough signatures.

Instead, the organizers behind Ban Assault Weapons Now say they’ll focus on getting the amendment on the ballot in 2022.

Facts are kryptonite to liberals, so here is the definition from the proposed initiative:

1)Definitions–

*a)Assault Weapons*–For purposes of this subsection, any semiautomatic rifle or shotgun capable of holding more*than ten (10) rounds of ammunition at once, either in a fixed or detachable magazine, or any other ammunition–feeding device. This subsection does not apply to*handguns.*

b)Semiautomatic*–For purposes of this subsection, any weapon which fires a single projectile or a number of ball*shots through a rifled or smooth bore for each single function of the trigger without further manual action required.c)Ammunition–feeding device*–For purposes of this*subsection, any magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar*device for a*firearm.

Which shows that the language does indeed ban .22 rifles that are fed by a tubular magazine, which is what tha Florida Attorney General said. The anti-gunners lie, then they lie about lying, then lie some more, NEVER trust them!

Well, that’s good news......for now. They’ll be back in two years, and with the demographics of FL changing some more by then, they may get more support and traction. The fight continues, it just doesn’t end.

If you want to do something more permanent to stop them from trying again and again and again, you need to make sure that this November you election a Republican House, Senate, and President. We need at least two more strict conservatives on the Supreme Court. That is the strongest hand we can play.

Unfortunately, these gun grabbers are doing a State Constitutional Amendment which is then presented as a referendum on the November general ballot directly to the voters. Even if the state legislature is all Republican and the Governor is Republican, if the referendum is approved by the voters, it supersedes any legislated law passed by the state legislature and signed into law. The only government intervention is that the Florida Supreme Court must approve the language of the proposed amendment to make sure it is understood and enforceable. They really can't prohibit an amendment if it passes the legalese mustard test for legal language.

The other problem is that the US Supreme court has ruled that states can restrict the types of guns that are deemed legal in their states.

The good thing is that this won't get on the ballot this time around and hopefully never, but doing a state constitutional amendment by voter referendum is scary.

Yes, and people are literally up in arms about it.
I predict conservative voter turnout will be amazingly high this year.
National, state and local.

the Republican Senate in Florida are worse than Democrats. All the Yankees in S Florida put them in office, and they pass anti gun bills. My Senator here in N Florida, Keith Perry, is the worse kind of traitor

I can almost guarantee you it will make it on the ballot in two years. I have seen Floridians miss the first attempt but normally get it the second time around. The Attorney General is a lying POS. She said she wasn't going to get involved in the rights of Floridians gun owners.

Indeed! Gives 2 more years for the liberals to invade and makes it more likely to pass.
