I remember how people laughed at Norincos when they first came out. Dismissed as "Cheap Chinese crap" by nearly everyone. Usually based on nothing but name/country of origin. But now folks understand they were FAR better than they assumed.
This sort of filters over to the nostalgia thread. People had an issue with the Norincos simply because the idea of an all-American 1911 being made in communist China rubbed some people the wrong way. So they wanted to hate them. I don't think anyone questioned whether the Chinese could do it. They are masters of reverse-engineering and they certainly had lots of captured M1911A1s to go off of, not to mention plenty of factories and cheap labor to build them with.

Avoid the temptation to replace everything on your brand-new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot at least 500 rounds through it first, then decide what you don't like and want to improve. Regarding vintage 1911s, pre-1970 pistols are highly collectible in original, unaltered condition and should NEVER be refinished or modified as it completely ruins their monetary value.
