This week, we start a small segment focusing on what most competitive shooters end up learning, gunsmithing. If there's something you want to see John cover, please send us an email at powerfactorshow@gmail.com.
Being a machinist I can really understand the work he is doing on the manual machine. However doing both manual, CNC and CNC programming I can see how a CNC would be an advantage if he was doing alot of those at a time. But for one off's he's got a great setup.
Episode 51 - Competition vs Self Defense
The proverbial comparison. The instigator of many rule arguments and interpretations. Shooting games like USPSA and IDPA were originally created to simulate real-world self defense scenarios but have changed dramatically to take into account safety and consistency. So the question we get most of the time is, does participating in USPSA or IDPA help with Self Defense skills?

USPSA and IDPA are largely governing bodies for the sport and the rules are laid out to ensure consistency across all participants and clubs. This week Steve, Rick and Caleb sit down to talk about this slightly heated topic that has got everybody in the local community up in arms.

I had to skip through parts of it... its kinda boring. :biglaugh:
In the end... all of this (pro, amatuer shooter, t-shirt or jeresy, etc. etc. etc) comes down to what the score sheet says... if you win you win, if you lose you lose... thats it.
USPSA has classifications, you compete against people in your own skill level... just becuase shooter A has a full time job and shooter B is sponsored by Glock doesn't change anything, they have both been classified in the same skill level.... they talk about prizes for the top shooters, and you know what... thats completely based on the market value of a match... there shouldn't be any price differences for pros/amauters. If a match director wants to bring out big shooters/top guys, then he needs to make the match appealing for them... if they don't care for that then they make the match more appealing for different shooters.
Worrying about what "others" need is kind of pointless... shoot matches based on your own criteria... whether it be the price, good stage design, good competition, good prizes, etc. etc. etc... It shouldn't matter what "the other guys" get.
I couldn't make it past the first five minutes of whining.
