Within reason and caveat to special requirements, I think strong springing a 1911 mag is a good think. That is one of my first go to's when nose dives and misfeeds occur.

You and "adjust" that upper coil to fit the follower. Be careful not to kink or overbend, beng too much, the coil. I have to do this when fitting some extra power Wolff mag springs to some 10 round 45 single stack mags.
