Its a pretty broad question.... what if any, are "must have" features in a 1911 for you?

Colt has > $900 offerings that are pretty solid, though minimalist. Sprinfield makes solid performers, though Ive yet to see a sub $1300 one with a trigger that didn't feel like it was full of sand. DW makes great guns, but limited in options. Kimber has a huge menu, and probably the best of the rack trigger I've seen (or felt, more accurately) in a mass produced 1911. Most of their 1911 QA/QC problems are a thing of history.... however once you're willing to spend $1300+, there are better option available.
I don't have enough hands on time with the < $700 options to speak intelligently on them...
