I recently purchased the SR1911 "Koenig" Custom. I got it from Bud's for $1750, including their credit card premium. So, when talking about it, it shouldn't really be considered a $2500 pistol.
I am far from a 1911 expert, but I do own a few. Functionally, the gun is fantastic. It has run flawlessly. It is as accurate as any pistol I own, including my Sig P210. The slide to frame fit and barrel to bushing fit both seem awfully tight to me. The trigger guard undercut is very nice. So, if one is looking for a gun for actually shooting, I think this would be a great choice.
The straight vertical trigger isn't my biggest preference, but that is only a preference thing. The trigger is good, but it's not exceptional, compared to my Les Baer or Nighthawk. It is just a bit heavier than maybe it should be. Although not a 1911, I will say I prefer my Sig P210's trigger. Nonetheless, I really am not saying it's a bad trigger.
In terms of finish, such as the fit and blending of the grip safety, the gun comes up a bit short for the price point. Not horribly so, but I can say my Colt Special Combat Government that was only a little more money, is a clear aesthetic notch higher. The "Koenig" looks nice, overall. It is on the distinctive side, which one may like or not.
In conclusion, because flawless operation and superb accuracy are my two main concerns, I feel the "Koenig" is worth what I paid. I am happy to have it and shoot it. If you're more the sort of guy who craves the custom/semi-custom aesthetic refinements, you'll certainly think this is not a good value.
(Sorry for the lack of photos...If people really want a detailed photo of something on the gun, let me know, and I'll take one...probably with the added bonus of my hand in there too.)
