I dunno. I saw a lot of that in the computer industry back in the day. As in, it was common enough that when a company bought a competitor and *didn't* shut it down and/or go bankrupt due to the new debt load, it was news...

Given the news from Remington the last few years, I don't think any "gun people" are in decision-making positions any more. It has happened to other gun manufacturers that got bought by conglomerates; they move their own management in, accounting, purchasing, and inventory are insourced or changed to meet the standards of the new owners, and every penny is pinched to make the new acquisition pay for its own purchase.

Whatever is going on at Remington HQ, they don't seem to be responsive to their market any more. Which may be one of the reasons they were weak enough to get bought the first time...
