[newby] in the series 70 is there differences from the ones produced in 2001 compared to the 2011 or 2012 models, getting ready to buy one from 01 and im just curios? it has a blue plastic case not cardboard one.
The first few hundred made in 2001 had the Series 80-style fully cut slide stop notch and a dot matrix serial number. Once those two things were changed to the more traditional format teh pistols remained unchanged until recently, with titanium firing pins now being used and the RH slide rollmark now absent.
Midway and Brownells I think both sell Titanium firing pins to even put in Series 80 guns.
