Hogue aluminum double-diamonds on my 1911s because they are designed to contain a case failure. I shoot mostly my own reloads and Tula by the 1000s. They run around $60/pair.
Regular old wooden double diamond checkered grips are my favorite. I don't mind if the gun manufacturers logo is engraved in them, but it isn't necessary.
My favorite shooting grip is simple rubber panels. It's what some Colts and Kimbers came with as original equipment. Their cost is very minimal and you can find takeoffs here and there.
I find them very comfortable even when shooting hundreds of 800fps + loads.
They are far from the prettiest but they are comfortable for me and grip nice too.
VZ Elite Tactical Carry. I just got them so they're my favorite at the moment. My next set of VZ will likely be my new favorite, but I haven't decided which ones to get yet!
Brand new SHARP checkered exotic hardwood. The sharper the better. I wanna see pieces of my flesh in the checkering at the end of the day. In all of the checkering, both metal and wood. Cause we're not messin' around here. Traction is GOOD.
Those Colt hard rubber slabs are very good too. I have them on a Harrison S70 repro. Have to say I dislike any and all other rubber grips.
