Of course metal has pores. Take a close look at it and you will see them.
The smoother the finish the smaller the pores, but they are still there.

Next time you have it apart check the back of the parts for a small ridge. If there is one you can file it so it's smooth.
This will pretty much stop any further wear in those places.

Check to see if you have brass marks on the underside of the slide release. If so file a bit and try again.
