I don't use oil on a holster ever, over time it will soften & loosen it. If you want it a little darker I use a small amount of brown shoe polish & rub it in well.

I don't like ported guns. more noise, slightly less recoil, fired close to your body you get gas up into your face. I know this from firing a friends ported 4" 29!

You can largely fix that by wetting the front of the holster then applying pressure on it with a wooden dowel or pencil. It'll allow the leather to stretch some giving more clearance for your front...
