If you never saw me bragging on this forum, it's because I know I'm not good enough to brag. But I noticed I have a few pistols that just seem to bring the best in me, regardless of cost.

My...

Mine is a Talo USMC version. I once did a 6" group, but only once.

I don't shoot it much since they stopped selling with the USMC rollmark.

I used Winchester 124 grain NATO spec on my DVC Carry. Worked out just fine.

Did it actually need a break in? I really don't know.
But, I suspect it has saved me a lot of grief over the years.

Similar thing with me.

A .22 Magnum round blew the cartridge bottom into my face.
It hit my left eyeglass hard enough to leave a small bruise on my cheek from the glasses.

The bruise is long...

Sorry, I meant it got stuck in the "out" position while cycling. I guess the tolerance was a bit off.
I had to push it back in and re-rack when that happened.

I had a spare Colt GI rod and cap,...

The trigger on my STI DVC Carry is pretty light, but that's not why I won't carry it.
When I turned 70, I wanted something very special. The STI DVC Carry is indeed special.

It also cost almost...

The RTB issue was with the old spring. No knowledge of weight or age, but VERY weak feeling.

The new 16# spring solved the RTB issue.

The slide lock up was caused by a previous attempt (not me) to tighten the slide with a "knurl" job.

The gunsmith stoned and lapped the slide to fix it. Afterward the slide operated very...

1911 Civilian circa 1947 Recoil Spring

In 2015 I bought a 1947 Civilian Model 1911.

Last year the slide locked up, and it spent 6 monhs at the gunsmiths. It was great when I got it back, but then it usually needed a slight nudge to...

My DVC Carry Shooting Better

My thread title may be a bit misleading. A better way to put it is "I'm shooting it better".

I bought it in August for my 70th birthday, and put 700 rounds through it. It handled superbly, and...
