Primary carry

I carried a Commander for almost twenty years. Great gun, always felt a little big but was able to carry without problems. Used a fanny pack at times. I switched to a 3 inch SW 1911 Pro Series...

Great combination

I usually carry a compact S&W 1911. I like it very much, compact(compared to the Commander I carried for 20 years), reliable and pretty accurate. I also am very happy to have a model 36 J-frame for...

Bike Carry, tank bag.

I rode sport touring bikes mostly. Handgun went in tank bag on the bike. Easy to transfer pistol to my person once I'm off the bike. I didn't like carrying on my person on my bike. Wouldn't have...

yaqui slide

I tried one for a while with my Commander. Always felt that the gun was too heavy for a minimalist holster. Even tried it with my compact .45 that replaced my Commander after 20 years. Just recently...

Great snubby, nice upgrade on the grips. I have that same pistol. It's my carry gun when I need something small/more concealable than my 1911.

Sling bag option

I'm using a Midway sling bag with Maxexpedition holster that velcros inside very nicely, even holds a spare mag. I also use a fanny pack a lot on the bike. More compact, maybe travels more stealthy?...

Speed strips and pouches

If I am not carrying my compact .45 I have a snubby, model 36. Very compact, functions perfectly. I use speed strips and/or a pouch that will hold 5 rounds. I have a speed loader but rarely use it,...

Welcome from the wetside of WA. I sure like to get over to your side of the state, I am an avid coyote hunter. We sure are having a dry spell this summer, aren't we?

Kimber sells them, or did. I put a set on my 1911 knife. Looks great, Semper Fi!

Neck knife

I use a Boker neck knife that's ceramic. Ditched the metal neck chain for paracord. Gets through metal detectors. Not my everyday carry but my "works in a pinch" weapon. Doubt the blade would hold up...

Pro Series

I'm no expert but I did have a Colt Commander for 20 years, switched last year to the compact S&W, great gun, easier to carry, perfect for my needs. I ran into some of the same failure issues you...

leather sling

Montana Slings are superb in function and build but being leather, not completely waterproof. Outdoor Connections makes a great nylon sling that adjusts quickly. These are the two that I use for...

As a Marine we were well trained with M-14 and M-16, did FAM fire with a .45. I credit the rifle range time back then with helping me to still be a pretty good shot with a fifle.

one that got away

I had one of these in blued form, bought it along with a Commander and a Mustang. I kept the Commander, carried it for 25 years, didn't keep the Mustang too long. Too small for my hands. The .380 is...

Hollywood nonsense

I always thought it was a funny when in the movie "MASH" the ref used a .45 for the starter/halftime pistol.

To correct myself. The .38 is an Airweight. My wife had a SW Airlite, .22 eight shot snub but she never like the trigger on it. She is much happier with the .38, more bullet and smoother trigger...

S&W Model 36, Warrenty work

Bought another snubby for myself. I like to have a 1911 model and a snubby for carry options. My wife took my airlite .38. Enabled me to pick up a Model 36. Classic snubnose. Had some problems with...

Thank you for all the responses and information. As a new guy on this forum I keep my views mostly to myself. I have been a handgun carry guy for 40 years. Never a long gun carry in the sense I was...

We have open carry in Washington State. I know how that looks if I decide to carry a handgun that way, locked and loaded and legal. What do states like Ohio and Texas say about open carry with a...
