The only one I've added recently is 40 S&W. Never had a gun in that caliber but last year picked up a CZ Tactical sport to shoot USPSA limited with. Easy caliber to reload.

A thumb safety on a Glock or M&P would be completely different then having one on a 1911 or other single action semi auto. If you don't like thumb safeties then a 1911 is not for you. No big deal....
