I don't think recoil will bother me too much. It was 20 years ago I shot my friends Ruger Carbine. It seems equal to a 12 ga. heavy trap load to me, but it was a semi-auto and recoil bothered me...

I have used a tarp, but if you want to move and shoot it isn't great for that or if it is windy.
Bring a teenager with you and have them pick up the brass. That works the best.

My Ruger Officers model had no issues with 9mm Winchester steel cased ammo.
I didn't notice when I bought it. Disappointed because I reload and wanted the brass.

I use a 4" Vedder holster for it.
Mine isn't accurate with factory defense type ammo. My reloads are way more accurate...
