The grip safety should clear the rear of the trigger bow when it disengages.
Over travel should be controlled by a set screw at the back of the trigger shoe.

I highly recommend the Bianchi PI.
Its a open top pancake holster, cut for the commander length slide.
It has a bit more rake than the FBI tilt. which makes the gun and holster feel much smaller....

Sent it back to Ruger and they fixed it.
I think the cylinder wasn't machined right.

If a crack does happen it will be on the rail where the slide stop window is.
It doesn't affect the gun as some companies actually cut that section...

Best way to clean an older Nighthawk with Permacoat?

My usual method when I buy a used gun is to detail strip and drop in a pan of Mineral Spirits and let soak overnight,
