I’ve had great luck with the two Colt Officer Models I’ve owned. However, the quality of Colts Defender Model, would be my first choice in the smaller 1911 market. JMO.

The Judge or Governor is a clumsy Frankenstein gimmick. I carry a lot of wheel guns, preferably K- Frames. Ive never felt under guned with a S&W Model 66 or model 19. ymmv.

Agreed, I’d try some different brand ammo. I have a S&W 396 Night Guard (44 Spl.) with a scandium frame, and have never experienced this. It’s the “perfect packin pistol.”
