My Vigil CCO . . . .

My Vigil CCO has never seen anything but FP10 (which the DW manual recommends) and it still has spots like that on the slide. I guess that someday holster wear will cover the spots unless it ever has...

My New Agent was great right out of the box. The only change I made was to have my gunsmith buddy epoxy a short piece of green fiber optic rod to the front of the trench as a point of reference under...

Thanks for the suggestion . . .

I could probably handle replacing the filler easily enough, but I'm not sure that I could re-drill the screw holes and countersink them for the screw heads properly. I don't have a suitable drill...

Hi All;

I didn't really see the blank slide as a QC issue. The gun was obviously well put together and had a very nice blued finish. I just assumed that it was another of Colt's little oddities and rather...

So you're the one that stole my pony!

Speaking of oddities from Colt, I purchased a 70 Series a couple of weeks ago with no pony, nor any other markings, on the slide. It it completely blank. Now before someone jumps in and claims that...

Thanks guys . . .

I'll try to snap some pics when I stop by for a second look but I'm starting to think that the only thing "Behlert" about this gun is the sights.

Austin Behlert Commander???

Hi Guys,

A local LGS has an old school LW Commander with aftermarket sights stamped "Behlert". I haven't checked the serial number but based on the rollmarks it looks to be of about late 1960's...

Adjustable Sights on a Commander

Hi All,

I have long admired a friends Gold Cup Commander and am considering installing Gold Cup/Bomar style sights on one of mine. Who would be a good candidate for doing the installation? I would...

I believe that the EGW reverse plug can be used in conjunction with a flat wire recoil spring so that no milling is needed. The thickness of the reverse plug shortens the slide travel (by the...

Is it possible that it is just the angle at which light is reflecting off the gun that makes it looks chromed in the picture? Especially if it happened to be a WWI era pistol in polished blue. I love...

Value Range for '45 Ithaca

Hi Guys,

I realize that anything you tell me without pics is just speculation, but what would you consider a fair price range for a high condition 1945 Ithaca?
Thanks,
Tom

The name "chute knife" may be a bit of a misnomer, but the design was supposedly developed by a CIA operative named Harry Archer in conjunction with Bob Loveless during the Vietnam War as a compact...

On the subject of "sweeping" . . . .

I fully realize that one should never point a weapon at anything they don't wish to shoot. Having said that, it is pretty much impossible to thoroughly examine a gun of any kind in a crowded shop...

Gun shots scare me . . . .

I've been shot before - with a .45 acp - at point blank range. Yes, gunshots scare the hell out of me unless I'm the one doing the shooting!

Thanks Guys!

I appreciate all of the advice. I'll start Cogan and go from there. My preference would be for a high polish finish.

Hi Guys,
I'm thinking about having an old S&W M19 hard chromed. Who should I use and how much can I expect to pay?
Thanks,

Santa is always good to you when you are the one doing the shopping! Colt Series 70 reissue and Seecamp 32 for me. Sort of like Mutt and Jeff.
Best wishes for the new year!
