You found a very nice example of the P.38. Mauser's production was generally better than Walther's by 1944. Walther turned out some rough examples, but not nearly as poor looking as Spreewerke.

I was not aware Chip McCormick or Mec-Gar was offering double stack 10mm magazines for RIA models.

I've never had any trouble with the factory mag that came with my 10mm dual stack.

Well, you certainly won't notice it in a S&W 4006. That feels more like the recoil from a 1911 shooting .45ACP. More like what I describe as a 'rolling push' than snappy recoil.
