This is precisely why you do not want to "drop in" parts on a 1911 or swap them around. Parts need to be "fitted" to a specific gun. You might get lucky once in a while but not very often.

Colt has been building 1911s just like you described for a very long time. You seem to have them confused with a semi custom manufacturer. Colt just builds Mil spec guns.
