I have 1911 leather from Null, Sparks, and Arratoonian in which I regularly carry my Mk III. In each case, the fit and functionality is as good as it is with my 1911s.

For fixed blades, I think it's still hard to top a 7" Ka-Bar. For those uses, I have a traditional issue USMC Ka-Bar, an Ontario "499" with a 5" blade, and a vintage stainless Wenoka 5" dive knife....

A 1911 (or BHP) and a spare mag are sufficient for 99% of my daily activities. A Ruger LCP would fit the bill if I also felt the need to carry a BUG.
