My experiences with 4-4/4” 1911s over many years has been that they’ve been just as reliable and accurate as my 5” 1911s. I prefer the balance of the Commanders over the Government models myself.

Usually they’re staked in, but there’s no way that the pin can come out when the pistol’s assembled. IOW; it won’t come out when you’re shooting it, or cause the gun to bind up.

The pistol itself is flawless. If it were mine; I’d go with a satin finished French Walnut. That said; I’d be proud to carry it even with homemade plywood stocks!
