I spent 38 years as a machinist/tool & die maker. I'll stick with the modern synthetic flood and mist lubricants available today for machining, and load a file with chalk if its pinning

After some time I did fit an EGW thick flange...

After some time I did fit an EGW thick flange bushing to my Specialist, and de-horned it as well along with a fresh glass bead finish. I got a blank EGW sping plug and put the circular dot pattern on...

That's a mess. DW uses what they call "Duty Coat"...

That's a mess. DW uses what they call "Duty Coat" finish, which some sort of nitride technique. That makes proper repair costly as the slide would need a re-finish after the burrs are removed.
