The older Springfields had a GI feed ramp. The one I owned (1990 vintage) had a ramp like yours and was also finicky until I had a local gunsmith widen the feedramp in typical modern fashion.

Well then both appear to be laser engraved from what I can see. Why they switched from laser engraving to rollmarking, then quickly switched back to laser engraving is completely beyond me.
