1911 Officer
I've not yet seen an Officer model at any LGS and am contemplating a 9mm as a carry gun. There's not much to be found for feedback on these and I'm wondering if any of you have had any experience with them? Thanks

Have you tried looking at YouTube? Perhaps a local range has one you can rent. Sorry I can't help further.

I’ve had my Ruger 9mm Officer for six months and have just over 600 rounds through it.

There were a couple of instances of the slide not going completely into battery during the first box of ammo, but has functioned 100% since then.

The grips were thinner than I liked, so I replaced them with Harrison Design G10 Carry Groove grips (Brownells #100005638) and really like the result. It makes a great companion to the Ruger 9mm LW CDR Style pistol.

This replaced a Springfield EMP which was a good little pistol but I wanted the grip and controls to be closer in size to my other 1911’s. Standardize the ergonomics, so to speak.

The Wilson Combat magazines have worked well in this Officer. (Brownell’s #965000239)

Note: The Brownell’s numbers are for reference. I have no connection with them or any of their suppliers, just a satisfied customer.

Thanks for the response wiresguy. Now I need to get to handle one. It's strange how none of the area shops stocks these and I'm just a little nervous about ordering and gambling.

I love mine and it is my EDC. I like it better than my Colt Defender.
I use a 4" Vedder holster for it.
Mine isn't accurate with factory defense type ammo. My reloads are way more accurate and less recoil as well.

I also have not seen one either at a LGS. I am also curious about them although I think I will go with the CMD in 9mm first. I finally saw one of those in a LGS and it looked really nice. Better than the pictures on the web and in magazines. Just didn't have the $$ to get it at the time as I had a couple other guns on layawake I was paying off.

Fleet Farm
Doghawg, I noticed you are also from the Glorious Dairy State. I actually saw a Ruger Officer in the gun case at the Appleton Fleet Farm. I have no idea if they are currently stocking them as this was many months ago. It wouldn't hurt to go have a look yourself.

Very interesting. Thanks RockDoc65. May have to make a call and see if they still have it.

I dug up this old thread because I just got a 9mm Ruger Officer. I'm Impressed with this little 1911. Can't find any cosmetic flaws, trigger pull is decent and function is good. I didn't do any break-in other than clean and lube with FP10 before shooting. It got fed nothing but handloads with 100 rounds fired...Speer 124FMJ, XTP in 115, 124 and 147 gr., Hornady 125 HAP's and Lee 120 gr. (sized .357") cast powder coated. Powders used were Power Pistol and CFE with either WSP or CCI primers. In other words, I threw a little bit of everything I load at it.
And...The accuracy was impressive, especially with XTP's and the cast bullet. At 15 yards any shot that went outside of a golf ball sized cluster was called.
I got this thing on clearance from a local dealer. Clerk said they weren't selling. I guess with all of the 15-17 shot plastic 9's out there this 8 shot single stack isn't a big seller.
The best part of all...it's a 1911.:)

Only have one officers module 45 and it is a Kimber Ultra Carry in 45 . Perfect gun !

I have an officers 45 and the only thing I am waiting for is one in lightweight configuration - to give you an idea how much I like it, I haven't even shot either of my Detonics Combat Masters, much less carried them since I got it.

I'm not a 9mm fan, but in my opinion you cant go wrong.

A Ruger 1911 is like my old 51 Ford 8N tractor - you cant break it, and you wont live long enough to wear it out.

I only have about 1500 rounds on my officers, but maybe 4x that on my fullsize SR1911. FWIW.
