Main thing I want if I have to BO is fire power and reliability. So my choice is my Rock River Ar Op 3 with my eotech and my Sig P229 elite. If my wife comes with me she gets the FN s2000 gen1 and the XDm9. Going to have be a hell of reason to bug out as to leave all the other fine arms at home. I would do better to bug in.

I don't have a large collection, so they all come with me, none are "last" items.

The issue I have is, only 4 share 22lr cal, the rest are all different.

kwo51 10-22-2019 03:12 PM

Last used out of my collection is the Thompson black power gun.

1911crazy 10-22-2019 08:26 PM

The h&r revolvers and short 22’s make nice food getters too besides protection.

sixtus 11-01-2019 08:25 AM

Depend if long or short term. The guns I leave behind if its collapse of civilisation level are the biggest ones. The keeper is 22LR for me, in anything. Its multiple times cheaper and lighter than anything else, I'll be shooting years after the 9mm guys are empty and have reverted to using spears. Its more lethal than many think. Hardly a long range option but for comparison 22LR still has energy to penetrate 12" gelatin at 200 yards, check it on youtube. It goes straight through windshields, house doors, up to 12 layers of dry wall, and will kill hog or deer with base of ear shots. I have hunted with it here quite a bit, as its legal to do so. You are passing up more shots but its still a lot better than a bow and arrow.

What's disturbing is that the last guns most of us would want to have around in an emergency situation are pretty much the only ones the anti-gunners are remotely okay with us keeping. The more practical it is for serious use the more likely they want to ban it.

I'm leaning towards long range guns first and as I run out of ammo work my way down to the last gun with ammo in the safe, my son's Red Ryder BB gun.

My J. Stevens Tip Up .22 would probably be the "last gun".

bmcgilvray 11-03-2019 09:26 PM

This Colt 4th Model .22 Short single-shot derringer that is kept on hand is almost good enough to qualify for a mention this thread.

Some pretty interesting comments here.

Actually with all things considered. I could likely do pretty well with some of my single shots. With the terrain around here and my knowledge of it. I would not dismiss it entirely.

If I can smoke you 500 yards + away from me, that M forgery might not do you all that much good. Just sayin.

thing is, in a TRUE fecal matter in the ceiling fan situation...

you need something that will leave a big hole in something.

I had a Jennings J22. Loved that gun. Shot a bunch of ammo thru it. Paid $25 for it new and it worked fine right up until the time I sold it.

Force them to be with their ex-wives?

hntbambi 12-11-2019 08:15 PM

I would have to lean towards my GSG 1911 22lr or Ruger 22/45 and the screw on barrel extender. I can carry 500 rounds of ammo easily. It is a super quiet covert weapon as to not draw attention to myself or my location and can get the job done 90% of the time. The other 10% are covered with a Glock 19/17/34 and a 223 AR15.

Kevin Rohrer 12-12-2019 06:13 AM

The last gun I would use? Anything in 9mm or smaller.

corpsman5 12-14-2019 09:54 PM

the last gun I would pick, that I currently own, would have to be this piece of crap, Italian made copy of a colt 44 black powder.

GOA Guy 12-15-2019 12:46 PM

A RG 22LR derringer. A friends boss wanted it out of his house so I obliged.

Don Flynn 12-15-2019 05:48 PM

Last gun I bought? Used Ruger 10/22 I snagged for $160 bucks. Not my 1st choice for SHTF but livable I suppose.

Planned SHTF weapons, 14.5 BCM Ar build and my SHTF Browning Hi Power 9mm, maybe a Glock 19 or Berretta M9 as a 2nd pistol just because parts and mags will be easier to find a few years into SHTF

PsychoSword 12-19-2019 07:51 PM

Probably Desert Eagle .50. It's the most impractical gun I own because of the weight and would be the last thing I would bug out with for that same reason. It weighs almost as much as a lightweight carbine.
But it's just so damn cool!

In a zombie apocalypse movie of course it would be my first choice. And I'd be one handing it like a boss.

I don't know, they sure want all the .50's. And I wouldn't want to use a 5+lb. handheld artillery piece for SHTF. That or a .50BMG rifle. I wouldn't want to lug that around either on the off chance I might just need to take out a light armored vehicle.

Very nice wood on those rifles. Me like! I like carbines for practical purposes, but outside of urban terrain a rifle will always do the job MUCH better.

Faawrenchbender 12-20-2019 06:30 AM

My GAP Rock.......while its uber-accurate, its also heavy as crap. Would not want to lug this one about the countryside

That sounds like a plan.
