Springfield Armory Loaded

I am the proud new owner of a Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded .45ACP that I picked up this past December. As such Iíve gone ahead to the range 3 times and run like 150 rounds flawlessly with the stock SA magazines that came with the purchase. Nonetheless, I still went ahead and ordered some Wilson Combat magazines that from everything Iíve heard and read is the way to go. Not to mention that it takes the SA 1911 from 7+1 to 8+1 rds.

In preparation for these magazines I had gone ahead and added a Wilson Combat magwell after the first Range visit and while I was at it, to the 5 stock Springfield Armory magazines I added mag pads as you can see in this photo. As well I went ahead and changed the original rosewood cocobolo grips which I liked to some G10ís which are pretty narly and donít look to shabby with the Stainless steel.

Thus far, my introduction to the 1911 has been amazing! While, I tend to be a bit old school that all my hand guns are DA/SA like the Beretta PX4 Storm full size for home defense, a Springfield Armory XD-E as my EDC, and a Sig Sauer P226 MK25 that will most probably end up by my nightstand once I run a few more hundred rounds to then supplant the Beretta PX4... this SA 1911 gives me loads of joy at the range and just sheer pride of ownership.

Hoping yíall can relate...

Welcome and nice looking 1911. The only SA I own is a Defender and have been impressed with the build quality. Liking the stainless!

I can relate. I recently acquired a Loaded Target 9mm I will be posting about soon. I it is nice pistol and will some debugging/refining is a very nice pistol.

FWIW, at least you are using the Metalform (SA supplier of mags) with your pistol. I have had better luck with the Metalform mags than I have with WC in all my guns. I do use WC mags but realize no benefit to 2x the cost. Just mentioning this because from time to time you'll see some low use Metalforms for sale at good prices, as well as online vendors sales.
YMMV. Enjoy your pistol.

My Loaded is my favorite 1911, one of my favorite anything actually. It has been 100% reliable from day one. The first year I had it I shot it a lot and never cleaned it, just kept it lubed. It finally got so full of sludge the OCD in me came out and I had to clean it. It never malfunctioned either.

Get some 10 round magazines from your choice of maker to go along with nightstand duty.
My Stainless Loaded is a plain Jane other than a set of VZ grips and a little bit of polish to make it look purdy..... ;)

Good on ya.
When you are ready a simple tuneup will make it even better.

To me, the 1911 IS the old school pistol of choice. Springfields are great guns, with excellent customer service (if needed). Don't be surprised if within a year or so your 1911 starts to multiply.

I think 1911s are kinda like high end watches. After you get your toes wet and understand the potential your budget and desires have to come to an agreement.

Haha, agree 100%. Now when youíre into 1911s and mid/high end watches... amazing how fast your budget goes red!
