My Wife And My Colt Gunsite...
I purchased a Colt Gunsite at lunch time today without getting prior approval from my wife. Well when I got home, I pulled into the garage and decided to put the weapon in my storage cabnet until I could get post approval or dump some of my safe queens and adjust the difference. Well as luck would have it, my wife opens the door leading to the garage (attached garage) just as I'm headed for the storage cabinet. I jump about 2 ft. and I'm totally busted. The look on my face caused her to laugh so hard she started to cry. Anyway, she made it very clear again, that she doesn't mind that I buy guns. It's the retired soldier in me. Anyway I came clean and told her that I planned on getting rid of some of the guns I don't shoot as much anymore. She asked to see my Colt Gunsite and suggested that I keep them all
We have been married 26 yrs. and it's obvious that she knows me better than I know myself. I can't put anything over on her because it shows on my face. I'm still going to get rid of some of my safe queens but not because I have to. If you have been married for awhile you know what I'm talking about. Oh yea! I got the Gunsite of $1,250.00 new and it appears to be well made. I will let you know how it shoots this weekend.

I'm with NvRayDr.... your wife is at least as much of a keeper as your Gunsite. You're a lucky guy to have lots of guns you love and an understanding woman who is supportive and loves you as well. I say congrats to you on the wife and the new Colt!
![]() P.S. I know exactly how you feel... numerous times I've come home with a new pistol and tried to "sneak" it in without being "found out"! Funny. I'll bet most of us here have experienced that at one time or another.

Another good reason to have lot's of gun's, it's easy to hide a new one .

Critical Mass
I call this the theory of critical mass with firearms. If you only have two or three it is easy for others to count. When you reach critical mass and are constantly carrying guns in and out with many cases, etc., it is impossible for others to keep track of the inventory. It is like moving into a blind to shoot crows. They can count up to three or more but not to ten or twelve.
This doesn't always work with shooting buddies though. They can always spot a new addition to the inventory. VF-40 |

You are, a very fortunate man.
Let's hear about the Colt when you've rung 'er out on the range.

I have been married for 13 wonderful years to a woman that shoots, has her own guns, wants more guns and knows when ever I have bought one. Cant ever seem to seek any past her because she pretty much knows all 60 of ours.

Only 60 guns???
What??!! Only 60 firearms and you've been married 26yrs? You're slackin' off there, Hero45! Why, me & my hubby only been hitched 4yrs now, goin' on 5 and we've nearly amassed that many!
Ya know, they like to breed in the safe if you don't install a light... But seriously folks, as a woman who has always loved firearms, it was a joy to find a husband who understood, and didn't treat me just as "one of the guys" (after a while in life you stop wanting to be accepted by the guys you hang with, and want a little attention from some of them...) I don't mind if he buys a new firearm--it just means I get to go shopping for the next one on MY list!

vic303:
There is clearly more banging going on at your house than myne. You might want to slow down or in 26yrs your family will be out of bullets The truth of the matter is that my wife is not a gun enthusiast, so I make sure I don't go overboard with my guns. I'm actually tougher on myself than she is. My interests are part hobby and self defense. When I got my CCW some years ago my wife wasn't very happy about it, but then I reminded her that I carried a knife for 15 yrs in the car or had it close by and she didn't think twice about it. I also reminded my wife that she seemed to use my knife more than I did to cut this or scrape that. Now that I'm older and slower my gun is a better tool for self defense than my knife. Although my wife won't admit it, she feels safer knowing that I'm armed and that I practice routinely. Two weeks ago we drove to CA and my wife asked if I had my gun because she didn't see it when the glove box accidently flew open I told her I'm not licensed to carry in CA, and for a moment it sounded as though she was disappointed. The bottom line is I like to keep a low profile whether I'm armed or not.

Hero45... keeping a low profile is smart. In all likelihood, especially by keeping a low profile, you'll never be subject to the terror of being involved in a shooting. But being ready and able is not a bad idea. For me, the pleasure of owning, customizing, and shooting guns is what it's all about... the ability to defend oneself with firearms is a nice by-product.
