Has anyone seen one of these. From what I was told they just started shipping from Colt.

No. Have not seen one yet. Takes time for stuff to work through the distribution channels.

I have done a couple of searches on the particulars for this edition, but I can't seem to find much info. For example, is this going to be a limited production run (like 300), or more like the Wiley Clapp that is "limited" in that they will make "some".

This is the only reference I can find other than the gunbroker link, but it doesn't have too much info:

Looks nice, but for that price I'd opt for a Dan Wesson.

I thought Lipseys and Talo were competitors.

So I have a question.

I looked at the eight on GunStroker and wonder why these are going for 3 to 500 more than a XSE Commander?

The only difference I see is the finish.

Night sites, unique stocks, ion bond finish, but other than that yeah you are right. One can pick them up for significantly less than MSRP from reputable sellers on gun broker.

Ok, I can see the price difference more clearly....with night sights and ion bond.

Thanks

What kind of pain would it be to checker the front strap since it is ion bond finish? Maybe a guy could by and XSE, put on night sights and have it ion bond'd? A magwell would be on my want list too.

Guys those are some sharp, sharp looking pistols.

Only the slide is Ion bond, the frame is Cerakoted. Still a bit of a pain, I imagine it would involve re coating the frame. At least the Cerakoting is cheaper.

IIRC, the base XSE's frame is also Cerakoted so same issue either way.

Would love to have a current pistol frame checkered on the front strap and frame colored grey somehow. No idea where to send with quick turnaround. This is a great look for the 1911.
