Ed Brown Special Forces, first 1911???

Hey Guys, great forum!

I really love the look of the Dan Wesson Specialist, but ran across an Ed Brown Special Forces today... it appears to be a little different than most of the ones i find pics of as the special forces is written on the right side of the gun in front of the ejection port (probably and older model). The serial # is 3xxx, and i've been told the gun has had two owners, both friends, and only a safe queen with 20rds through it. Condition is perfect and I honestly thought the gun had not been shot before until the store contacted the owner (it's on consignment). Comes with case, original paperwork, 1 original mag and two wilson combats. I would describe the gun as perfect condition; finish/grips/nightsights/etc.
Asking price is $1500, with a small amount of wiggle room. This will be my 10th firearm, and first 1911...seems like a good deal. Should i buy and enjoy, or find a specialist (new) for a little more money? I can't find any Ed Brown's anywhere close to that price.

Your help/advice is appreciated in advance!

The store owner's Book of Gun Values must be out of date. Either that or you're just toying with us.

If you don't grab that thing, especially with a little wiggle room, you will kick your self in the fanny forever. My only question is why in the world would TWO previous owners only put twenty rounds through it combined? That is less than two and a half magazines total.

Twenty rounds or not, buy it. As long as it doesn't look like it has been treated rough, and you said it hasn't, you will be saving some money.

Even if it has five hundred rounds through it you're still getting it at a good price, and a long way from replacing parts.

Given serial number and engraving that is an older Special Forces. I am not at my shop and would need to look at my books to be sure, but sounds like probably 5-6 years old.

Given condition as described and price this is a buy Monday through Friday and twice on a weekend.

Call you local police department and report yourself for stealing a firearm.

When you get out from serving your time, call Sarge at The Finer Grain, makes some great grip panels.

Congrats on the Brown.
