We have Ohio Gun Collectors Assn shows every 2 months. I just show up with 20 or 30 Franklins in my pocket. Sometimes I hit a jackpot such as when I scored a LNIB EB Kobra for $1600.

Other times I walk out without spending a dime.

I have my eye on a couple of guns.

I am looking at a really clean S&W model 12-3, Additionally I am looking at a S&W model 58. And I am also looking at a Mauser Broomhandle.

One thing that I would definately do before buying any new gun.

Is make sure that I would be able to have ammunition for it. That appears to be kind of iffy these days.

I cannot decide between a commander size ATI 1911 or a SS Taurus 1911.
I wished Taurus would come out with a commander size 1911.

I'm looking at buying a Beretta, the 84, 85, or 92 Compact.
My husband is looking at the FNX .45 for his next purchase.

After a lot of thinking and a lot of research and looking through a host of options I'm going to get one of the following come the end of May.

1: Springer RO
2: Ruger SR1911C
3: STI Spartan IV
4: S&W 1911 E-Series (stainless non-railed)
5: Remington R1 Carry

I'm leaning towards the E-series because I like cocking serrations and the feel in my hand. A friend's got one in his shop and he said 789+tax.

My next pistol will be a new Ruger 22/45 with a threaded barrel... eventually I'll mount a Gemtech Outback II suppressor on it.

Either:

Kimber Gold Combat RL II

Wilson Combat Xtac Full Size (to go with my compact)

Ed Brown Special Forces Carry in Stealth Gray

I've also been really looking hard at a Springfield XDS as a toy, and will be picking one of those up with whichever of those listed above.

Not in any specific order, really based on availability and fair market price:

CZ 97-BD, Colt Series 70 1911, Dan Wesson 1911 Heritage, Springfield TRP 1911 (non-railed), Remmington R1 Enhanced Stainless 1911(non-threaded barrel) and Ruger GP-100 5" Stainless Revolver.

I will be very happy with aquiring atleast half of the above within a year.

I keep waiting for Ruger to come out with the SR45c, but they are not talking. Getting pretty close to jumping on a Springfield XDs.

A Baer HW Mono is next on the list. I'm also keeping an eye out for Series 70 Gold Cup.

I don't have the money to buy any new guns since we just had twins back in January, and probably won't have money for a new gun for a while. However, if I had the money , an LRB M14 in a synthetic stock and scout configuration built by Ted Brown would be at the top of my list. Next would be a .22 pistol of some sort and them a 10mm Delta Elite. However, given my finances, I'll be making do with my full size match tuned M1A and looking to get a .22 conversion kit for my Colt S'70 and possibly a .460 Rowland conversion after that.

I want a series 70. I plan on going shopping tomorrow (Fri) since I'm off work.

.....3-day weekend!

......anyhow, last week I stopped into a local shop, and while they DID have some Colt 1911's including a series 80 with a tag of $989.00......they had NO series 70's. I asked them what the current price was on a series 70 and the guy looked it up and said the current MSRP was $1075.00. About what I expected.
Now, here's the thing I do not understand: I asked the guy if he could order me one from Colt and he politely said: "No, they're too backed up and they won't even take the order". Seriously? Colt won't let a dealer place an order for a customer anymore?

Guy said my best bet would be to just keep shopping the gun shops and sooner or later I'm bound to find one on a shelf either new or used.....OR check the gun shows.

FWIW I prefer a later model without the spring-loaded barrel bushing.

I could be wrong, but I think the series 70 is also known as the "Government Model"......am I correct?

Russ

Like the OP, I'd like to get a S&W 1911SC E Series. I also would like to get an autoloading shotgun, a bolt action rifle in .30-06 or .308Win and a Henry lever action .22

I'm currently in a debate with myself over my first wheel gun (44 mag) vs. a 10mm longslide build.....

I'll eventually have both but which one first!?!?
