Sig 1911 Ultra Limited Edition

So I've been hunting for a new Officer size 1911 for the last few weeks and was preparing to buy basic and build it up with G10 grips, night sights, etc.

While looking for a basic by Kimber, Springfield, or Sig at local gun stores in SLC, I found a shop about 20 minutes away with an online inventory list. They listed a Sig Ultra with stainless slide, night sights, and G10 grips for $959. So I headed over there and took a look, and decided to pick it up. According to the dealer, this is a special/limited edition release by Sig with the grips and also includes a magwell, in addition to the other features on the Sig Ultra. I can't find this on Sig's web-site anywhere, and really no mention anywhere online except for one or two listings on Gunbroker and another online gun site. I'm pretty happy with it as far as the fit and finish. For the price, I decided to snatch it up, knowing to upgrade a basic $750 Kimber (Ultra, in all matte black) I'd end up near that price point anyway, plus the bi-tone and magwell, made it an even better value.

I haven't shot it yet, but reading reviews about the Sig 1911 Ultras, I doubt I will be left disappointed.

They are worth a look if you are in the market.

Has anyone else seen these around? I'd be curious if, in-fact is an limited run, and just how "limited" it really is.

I've had mine for about 10 months....at least I thinks it jas been that long. I don't know haw many handguns you have fired, but I can say this will be one of the top in comfort. These little things are great to carry and the follow up shots are so easy. Put about 500 down the pipe for break in. I have about 2k down mine and it just keeps feeling better!!! Congrats!!!!

Sig 1911 ultra limited

Just saw the Sig 1911 ultra limited at Buds website, did not show LE only. Have not seen this gun advertised except on GunBroker.

Thursday received a call from pawn shop that does my transfers that my pistol arrived. Odd, since UPS site wasn't showing it to be delivered. Drove over there to check the pistol. Wasn't mine but one of the ones posted above. Should of said yes, I'll take it. Mine arrived the next day - Sig Nightmare Fastback Carry.

My LGS has 6 of them in stock. It is the only Sig 1911 they have had for the last month or so.

Sig 1911 Ultra Limited Edition

I got lucky and snared one of the few of these they had for sale on BudsGunShop.com . Stuck it on layaway but paid it off really quickly through the sale of another gun. Should be here next week if all goes smoothly, which has always been the case on Buds in my many other dealings with them, even given the craziness out there right now. I saw one going out the door at my local gun shop and knew I had to have one. I also have a full-size Sig Nitron 1911 and a Sig C3 1911, both of them amazing pistols. This should be no different.

Hope that helps.

Opskmallory, you have a fine hopefully limited edition pistol there. I picked up my Ultra last June. I've put about 500 rounds through it with one failure to feed. It was the Hornady TAP 200gr +P HP ammunition. So I use the Winchester PDX1 ammunition as my self defense load. I carry my Ultra every day, I love how concealable it is. I just took it shooting a week ago and it still drives tacks in a 3" group at 25 yards. I just can't say enough about this little pistol. It's easy enough to conceal plus its accuracy just can't be beat for the price. I paid $949 for it and its MSRP is $1,150. I hope you enjoy yours just as much as I've enjoyed mine in the first 10 months!

Sorry, I meant to post a follow-up a while back after I took it to the range, and never did.

I've taken this new Ultra shooting 3 times. The first was my off-duty qualification. I put about 100 rounds through it that afternoon, the first 25 being the qualification. I like to do the qual with a new gun just to see how it handles before break-in. The 25 round course had no FTFs or other malfunctions. I shot a 231/250. Not my best score (avg 235-240 w/ Glocks and 240-245 w/ my Kimber SIS), but for a Ultra 1911, I'm happy with it.

It shoots incredibly smooth. The remaining box and a half had no problems either. Shooting was a mix of WWB and Federal HSTs (for carry). I took it out again about a week later to the range with my wife and put another 150 through it. Most of it was Blazer Brass, and a mix of reloads. A few of the reloads had a funky flat nose on them, and one of them failed to feed from the magazine. Cycling it manually, it discharged fine. The remaining 2-3 of those rounds functioned fine.

Last trip was another box of 50 Federal 230GR FMJ. No problems.

All in all, this is a solid shooter. I had no trouble keeping hits inside a B27 x-ring at 15 yards. Trigger is smooth with a crisp break at what I would estimate to be about the 4-5 lbs range, though I haven't measured it.

After trying to various ammo and establishing a comfort level, it's now become my regular EDC. It fits a Galco King-Tuk perfectly. It took a little breaking it, but an HBE pancake holster I had for a Springer UC works very well also.

I think another Sig 1911 is in my future. I'm eyeballing a Scorpion 4".
