Difference between .45 Colt and .45 ACP dies.

I have an interested party in my Dillon 550B press. He needs .45 dies. I found the dies today. They are RCBS .45 "colt" They also make a .45 "ACP" What is the difference?

45 Colt is a rimmed cartidge, around .3" longer than a 45ACP which is rimless.

Here is some info on both:

The important difference is the outside dimensions. The "Colt" is much wider. They need the appropriate dies for whatever they load.

Which outside dimension is wider? Don't they both shoot .452 bullets?

The SAAMI specs are different.

45 ACP = .473" mouth to .476" head

45 Colt = .480" cylindrical

Many current manufacture 45 Colt will run .452 bullets, but they have traditionally run .454 bullets, and SAAMI specs call for a .4560 bullet!
