Colt Officers Model MKIV Series 80 questions

My dad has a Colt Officers Model MKIV Series 80 and he loves it, but he's 6'6" and has hands way too big for it. I'm buying him a Hogue wrap around rubber grip with finger grooves for it and I also want to buy him something that will extend the grip and/or add to the magazine capacity like some x-grips or something but he has 3 of the 6 round factory magazines so I'm not sure if those will work. I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions.

Start with the Houge grips and see how he likes those, then move on to the other stuff.

a solution might be a change to full size magazines with adapters on them. He could still use the Officer's mags if he wanted to. Brownell's sells several different types of magazine adapters.

this may work

I carry mine with a short standard mag, but I carry two full size mags with these steel bases I bought from Wilsons...they are 47D.

It does help with your pinky finger falling off the bottom of the pistol. Hope this helps.

I have a very large hand and found that using a upswept beavertail, magwell and W/C mags with basepads was the best solution for me. I'm able to get enough of my hand on the gun that it feels and shoots great.
