Is it an XSE CE? It will have the modern features (beavertail, finger relief cut, front cocking serrations, NOVAK 3-dotsm Colt NM barrel). Then yes. Some of the early production of these had some bushing or recoil spring or slide stop issues if I remember right, but COLT will fix it no charge. I paid $1000 for mine two years ago. I'd do it. Get rid of the polymer and step into a tack driver. Very happy with mine.

Good call, I have no complaints at all about mine I bought in 2010, and it is one accurate gun even after a few thousand rounds. It is the one 1911 that I own that gets the most time from me, be it carrying or cleaning or shooting. Post some pictures once you get it.

Hope you didn't miss you chance on the Colt CE. Make sure it had the right grips (check on Colts web site for pics www.coltsmfg.com for pics - they are partially smooth and partially checkered Rosewood with the Colt Logo inside). When they came out a lot of guys took those off to keep for themselves and put more basic grips on. Found on on gunbroker where the guy advertises it as new but it's missing the correct grips, has an ambi safety, and an arched mainspring housing, all which was not factory. No worries of the grips aren't right you can buy them from COLT now.

Those grips look great sir, like they were never even touched. I took the originals off mine so i didn't take any more dents out of them.

They haven't been toched very much. I fired about 50 rounds through it and replaced them with a set of full checkered grips. For me, they look pretty but weren't all that effective.

TRSOtto, I must agree, the grips were a little too thick by comparison to the normal style, I replaced mine with medallion grips.
