New SR1911
I went to my local gun shop today and they had just got a new SR1911. This was the first one they had gotten. After looking it over I just had to have it.



My son and I when to the woods and shot it this afternoon and the only problem was it didn't like SWCs. I'll have to put a few more rounds through it for break in.

Congrats!

I assume you mean lead SWC's?

Try some truncated cone bullets.

Looks nice.

I just wish (I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but) more manufactures gave the option for .40S&W in the 1911 series.

Nah...I agree with you. I'd love to see an affordable .40S&W 1911 be produced.

I would imagine that there are a lot of fans of the .40 round that would like a 1911 chambered for it. Not me, but whatever floats your boat!

They were lead but copper plated Berry's SWCs.

Got one myself. At the price point I think the SR1911 is a best buy. I'd get another even if I had to pay retail and if you knew me, you'd know that's saying something about how highly I think of mine.

If I remember one of the smiths reviewed it on this forum and I think it has a 18 lb recoil spring. The gun is set up to run hardball and the hotter self defense loads. You can try a lighter recoil spring, even the original spec 16 lb and it might feed the SWC's.

I own 3 of these gems! You added a great gun IMO. Almost bought another at the gun show but was not going to pay over MSRP that everyone wanted.

I'm using 200gr. SWCs for reloads. It ate the first 100 rounds without a problem. I did have a squib (my fault), but that was it.
