Long Beach operator
Whats the deal with the Long Beach operator? I understand that it was made at request from the LB PD, but is this a production gun or was it only available in a few short run(s)? How do I find one? I found some info on it searching here about a place called proforce, but I checked with them today and they are out of stock.
I want one because I was looking for the MC operator, but prefer the black instead of the green frame. THanks |

I know the cosmetic differences, But how do I find a new one? I can find MC operators for sale pretty frequently, but not the LB version. Order from springfield or is it a production item? The only info I have seen is that the LBPD ordered some but have since discontinued ordering them. THanks

Yes the LB Op is a small batch type production run. They are the duty weapon for LB PD and anything left over from the Departments needs go to one or two local stores in the area.

Why do that, when you can buy it for the same price all black with a magwell? That's why I'm waiting for the LB version

It's not on the CA roster. How are you gonna buy it new?

AFAIK, LE don't need to follow the list.

Correct. I can either buy a used one from a private party because PPT's are exempt from the roster, or my LEO roommate can buy it and transfer to me. It shouldnt be an issue..

So there's nothing against LE buying non roster guns and selling them to civilians?

Yes and no. There were some LEO's that got in trouble (I think in norcal) for buying and selling a lot of guns to non-leo's. But I have bought from an LEO before that was an off-roster gun.
