new to 1911 world
Went to a local gun show. After some dealing I got a RIA compact. I've put about 100 rnds
Through it with no complaints except the grips. The smooth wood is nice but slick. I have some pins in my wrist and on round 4 or 5 my point og impact drifts low and right. Would some grippier grips help? My other handgun is a 357 mag with what taurus calls a ribber grip.

There are none like that for 1911s that's I'm aware of. I'd suggest you try a wrap around Hogue rubber grip. they're one of the best "pure function" grips on the market..(imHo) http://www.google.com/products/catal...ed=0CGIQ8wIwBQ they're a wonderful grip, just not real eye candy appealing . Inexpensive enough they won't break the bank either..and they're virtually indestructible t'boot ..l.T.A. |

Check prices at Cheaper than Dirt also, they carry Hogue and other brands as well and seem to be very competive in the price department.

I have Hogue grips on several pistols and like them, unfortunately I do not have them on a 1911 as yet.

got the Raasco grips.
Raasco's are NICE, and their customer service is great. ordered and recieved in 9 days, fit and finish are great. Crimson Ironwood with a double diamond checkering.
Put about 75 rounds through it today, point of impact is much better and the gun is much more controllable for me. I had zero malfunctions with winchester white box ammo. And except for needing to learn not to let my left thumb get anywhere near the moving slide, it was a very good morning.
