What are folks seeing for delivery times from STI? I ordered an Eagle 6.0 with a few different options. I was told by STI it would take 13-15 weeks and I'm at 20 weeks as of today. I've already contacted them, by phone and e-mail, but the delivery date keeps getting pushed every time I speak with time (e.g. we're 2 weeks behind, it will ship at the end of the week, etc.).

Please understand that I know delivery dates can and will often slip but I'd like to have a better idea of how long I should expect to wait.

Give it another month or two is the best advice I can offer. Till then, stockpile ammo.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I reload so I'm constantly stockpiling ammo. Heck, I've bought 3 handguns and 2 rifle since I ordered the STI.

As for waiting another month or two, I really don't see that happening at this point unfortunately. The STI is a great pistol but it's not the only great pistol out there.

Whatever you do, dont order anything like a suppressor/SBR/SBS ect...

That is an exercise in patience.

Don't feel bad. I ordered a custom, that was quoted at about a year, and next month makes 4 years.

I ordered a hard chromed STI Targetmaster from Shooters Connection around the middle of August last year. Took 5.5 months to get the pistol in; although, I think the biggest delay was getting the hard chrome done.

Please understand that I have no problem waiting for custom orders. I've waited 2 yrs for custom work (in my case, it's been guitar).It's not a matter of how long I have to wait but I don't like being told unrealistic delivery time.

To be more clear, if I'm told it's going to take 3-4 months I expect it to take around that long to deliver. I can see things slipping a little bit (4 weeks, maybe 5 or 6) but at some point I expect them to follow through on the delivery date (with a little slack time) they told me. When 3-4 months actually means 6 months, that's unacceptable in my opinion. I won't be strung along.

Yeah, although I can't own anything like that in IL, I read enough horror stories about ATF turnaround time on Form 1s et al but that's dealing with .gov and if they weren't excruciatingly slow, I'd be surprised.

All that said, I really don't want to complain about this anymore. I've done so too much already. I appreciate everyone's input on this matter and at this point, I'll just have to see what happens next.

Out of curiosity, where did you order from, and what options did you go with? I'm just wondering if one of their stocking dealers may have what you are looking for...maybe call Brazos, Dawson, Shooter's Connection (they have an Eagle 6.0 .40 S&W in stock! http://shootersconnectionstore.com/S...tem-P1053.aspx).

I wasn't aware that you can order directly from STI, but I have heard that getting anything custom or one-off from them is a pain. Basically, they make guns in batches of 16, so maybe they are waiting until they can do 16 of what you wanted...?

I ordered the pistol through my regular gun store (small one man operation) who I've done some decent business with. As for options:

- Eagle 6.0 9X19 Cal Bushing Barrel
- Red Grip With Black Trigger
- Tri-Top Slide
- Dawson Front Sight
- Novak Rear Sight
- Drilled and Tapped Mag Catch
- Long Wide Dust Cover to Match Long 6.0 Unique Cut Slide
- Custom Serial Number (my son's initial and his birth date)
- Aluminum Magwell

When and if it finally arrives, I'm going to have a local guy add some red (Duracoat) to the slide (2 and 11 o' clock on the tri-top slide and the slide serrations).

As I stated earlier, I ordered it through my LGS but I'm the one contacting STI for order status. As far as making guns in batches of 16, I don't know how or even if this pistol would fall into rule.

Anyways, there are a lot of us that empathize with you - we've all been there! Good luck.

I appreciate that and as I said, I have no issues waiting but I don't like feeling I'm being strung alone with unrealistic delivery dates. If they had told me 6 months up front, I wouldn't be impatient at this point.

I had a different experience with shooters connection, I ordered an STI Duty One with a bushing barrel and night sights. It came in two days (I selected two day shipping).

I would believe it has A LOT to do with the fact that you bought one gun through a LGS that isn't an STI dealer. Stuff like that goes wayyyy on the back burner.

Maybe call Dawson and see how long it would take them to get one... if its short, just cancel and order through them.

You raise a valid point but at this point, I would not feel right about taking the sale form a local gun store. As much stuff as I buy from him, I buy over the 'net.

The only problem there is if the frame has already been built and numbered with the custom SN. As to the 16 at a time rule, that is for the slides so nothing really out of the ordinary there. I wouldn't think that to be the problem.

Seriously though, I have been around enough to know that there is a fine line between being a nuisance and being effective. That said, right before I left work yesterday, the guy at STI sent me an e-mail that I need to read this morning. It mentioned something about telling his boss about the issue so I'll see where this goes.

I ordered the new Tactical 4.0 from Dawson a month ago and was quoted 16 weeks. Since I didn't order a stock model (added aluminum frame, tritium T.A.S., tan grips) I wasn't surprised. That's faster than the custom leather holster I ordered for it which will take 5-6 months. To get exactly what I want I don't mind the delay. All good things are worth waiting for.
